Also named negative edge, zero edge, disappearing edge or vanishing edge pool is a swimming or reflecting pool which produces a visual effect of water extending to the horizon, vanishing, or extending to “infinity”. They are often seen at fancy or exotic resorts, exclusive estates, and in advertisements. The infinity pool design concept is said to have originated in Bali, Indonesia, where its inspiration came directly from observing the dramatic effect created by the ubiquitous terraced rice paddies, known locally as “sawah”, for which the island is famous.
This would be a pool where the water level in the pool is the same as the top of the decking. Around the pool perimeter is a channel or notch that the water drains into creating a visual masterpiece. It looks like a big mirror lying on the ground. Very upscale!
The freeboard swimming pool also widely known as the skimmer pool has been one of the most frequently built swimming pools. This particular design enables a more cost effective and maintenance services-friendly option. Generally the upper perimeter is finished with an edging tile or coping stone, the water level is usually regulated around six inches below the pool surround. This type of swimming pool can be very flexible and can often be made in nearly any shape.
